What is the Mid-Autumn Festival?
The Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节) is one of the most celebrated festivals across East and Southeast Asia. Observed in countries including China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia, it falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month which is usually in September.
Often referred to as the Moon Festival, it is traditionally a time for family reunions, gratitude and togetherness. Families gather to admire the full moon, share mooncakes and pass down stories that have been told for generations.
Although rooted in centuries-old traditions, the festival’s themes remain universal today: celebrating community, appreciating one another and creating moments of connection.
