ESEA heritage month

Celebrating ESEA Heritage Month With Dear Asia London

Cultural insights, hands-on crafts and language workshops celebrating East and Southeast Asian heritage – as a bespoke event at your office, or join one of our public events.

THE STORY BEHIND THE CELEBRATION

A Month To Celebrate ESEA Heritage

East and Southeast Asian (ESEA) Heritage Month takes place every September across the UK — a relatively new but fast-growing observance since 2021.

Born out of the fight against anti-Asian hate during the pandemic, ESEA Heritage Month celebrates the history, culture and achievements of ESEA communities in fields from the arts to business and politics — and gives companies a meaningful way to build cultural awareness and inclusion at work.

“Celebrating ESEA Heritage Month is a meaningful way to champion diversity at work.”

Cultural Insights

From the origins of ESEA Heritage Month to the achievements of ESEA communities across the arts, business and beyond, each session shares the stories and context behind the celebration.

Arts & Crafts Workshop

From calligraphy to bamboo weaving and festival perfume bags, hands-on crafts inspired by traditions across East and Southeast Asia — including ideas drawn from the 24 solar terms.

connect & Celebrate

From essential greetings to cultural etiquette, moments designed to build genuine connection and celebrate what makes ESEA cultures unique.

A Dear Asia Event

Not a small undertaking – our whole team of experienced language, culture and craft educators comes together to design and deliver your experience.
Styled like a fun fair – activities are set up as different stations so guests can wander between at their own pace, making the whole event feel like a festival fun fair rather than a fixed itinerary.
Flexible by design – activities scale from an intimate team of 12–20 to a company-wide celebration of 60 or more.
Fully immersive – guests see, feel, learn, taste and create, connecting genuinely with Asian culture through multi-sensory experiences.
Active engagement – we keep a facilitator-to-guest ratio of 1:6–8, so everyone stays engaged and involved.

Our Special For ESEA Heritage Month

This September, we bring ESEA Heritage Month to life through culture, craft and connection.

🎨 ESEA craft workshops – hands-on stations in calligraphy, festival perfume bags and bamboo weaving or more, some inspired by the 24 solar terms.
🗣️ Language & etiquette – learn essential greetings and cultural etiquette in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai and Vietnamese, and discover the shared roots and striking differences between ESEA languages and Roman-based ones.
🥮 Mooncake & tea tasting – celebrate September’s overlap with Mid-Autumn Festival with a tasting of mooncakes and Asian teas.
🎯 Tailored to your theme – we work with your diversity and inclusion committees to design a celebration that fits your goals.

let’s Plan your event

Group Size

20–60 guests per session — our sweet spot for keeping everyone engaged, with a facilitator-to-guest ratio of 1:8. More than 60 people? We can run back-to-back sessions instead.

Venue

We come to you – materials, tea-ware and décor included, set up and packed away on the day. If you’re planning a team outing instead, we can help source a suitable venue.

Session Length

Most sessions run 1 to 1.5 hours, especially during work hours. Our team will need 1–2 hours before and after to set up and clean up.

Price

We quote based on a few key factors – number of people and workshops of your choice. Our quote covers planning, materials, logistics and labour costs, so it’s not as simple as a flat price per person.
