japanese origami workshop

bring Japanese Mindful or playful origami to your event

Origami is one of Japan’s most recognisable crafts — simple in principle, yet genuinely mindful in practice, and something everybody can do. We offer two ways to bring it to your event: a classic individual fold, like the iconic Japanese crane, or a team-built modular piece assembled together, piece by piece. Both make for a memorable way to celebrate Japanese craft, or to bring mindful focus to team building.

How to organise an origami workshop –

format

Our origami workshops suit two types of events. For team building, the whole group works together to create one impressive modular piece. If you’re after a crowd-pleaser instead, we can design a simple, iconic fold tailored to your event — a Brentford Bee, for example!

price

We don’t charge a flat per-person rate for this workshop. Instead, we quote based on the design time your origami requires and the staff needed to deliver your event.

venue

This workshop can be held anywhere with tables and chairs. For the quicker, simple-fold version, a standing audience with access to a table surface works just as well.

DURATION

Depending on the intricacy of the design, this can take anywhere from 10 minutes for a simple fold to an hour for a full team-building modular piece.

Why Choose our Origami workshop –

who we are

We’re cultural educators at heart, and craft teachers by trade. Dear Asia workshops exist to share ESEA heritage in a way people can actually feel — through their hands, not just a slideshow. It’s the same care and pride that goes into every workshop and event, whatever the craft.

not just craft

Our workshops work for every skill level — instructors give hands-on help throughout, so everyone leaves with a finished piece they’re proud of. But the craft is only half of it. Underneath is the story: the festivals, beliefs and traditions that ESEA communities have carried for generations, and that we bring to life in the room with you.

one stop shop event partner

Our full time team are experienced event organisers. We bring together event facilitators and craft instructors, so you don’t need to source multiple suppliers yourself. On the day, we handle setup, materials and introductions end to end — you just need to book the room.

origami 折り紙

Origami combines the Japanese words for “fold” (oru) and “paper” (kami). What began as a ceremonial art in Japan has become one of the country’s most recognisable crafts, valued for the patience and precision it demands. From the senbazuru (thousand paper cranes, a symbol of hope and good fortune) to modern minimalist designs, each fold turns a flat sheet into something dimensional and lasting.
