Planning something for your team, clients or customers around an Asian festival celebration? Our calligraphy workshop works as a standalone activity or as part of a wider event, giving you a genuine hands-on, low-pressure option that’s also deeply rooted in real cultural tradition.
how to organise?
format
Our calligraphy workshop is often offered as one of the activities within a festive celebration — for example, writing spring couplets or decorating paper fans and lanterns for Lunar New Year. Our in-house calligraphers are qualified teachers with high level of calligraphy skills to teach all beginners. Upon request, we can also bring in artist level calligraphers from China Calligraphy Institute (中国书法学院) to run a masterclass or create bespoke pieces for your event.
price
We typically quote for the whole event rather than a set fee per person for calligraphy alone — but as a guide, expect around £10pp for a small to medium beginner workshop.
set up
We bring everything needed to set up your space for calligraphy — for example, festive tablecloths or protective paper covering. All materials included.
DURATION
From our experience, each person spends around 20–30 minutes exploring the art of calligraphy when it’s offered alongside other activities.

Shufa 书法
Chinese calligraphy transforms characters into art, where every stroke holds meaning and balance – practised as much for its meditative rhythm as for the words it produces. Finished pieces are often framed as wall art, mounted as hanging scrolls, or given as personal and corporate gifts – from a name or meaningful phrase to festive works like Spring Festival couplets and the 福 (fu) character for good fortune, traditionally displayed at home or in the office.
Shodo 書道
Shodo, the Japanese Way of Calligraphy, unites writing and visual expression with brush and ink. Deliberate strokes reflect discipline and mindfulness in a single motion.
Seoye 서예
Korean calligraphy is closely tied to the Korean alphabet, hangeul, blending geometric precision with expressive brushwork – a distinctively Korean sense of balance and simplicity.
