This year we might be bringing both of the traditions on the same day\, and prepare a surprise or two for you. Traditionally held on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month\, it celebrates the harvest season\, family unity\, and appreciation of the moon\, which is believed to be at its brightest and fullest on that night. \n\n\n\nWoodblock painting\, also known as woodblock printing\, holds profound cultural significance as both an artistic technique and a vehicle for storytelling\, cultural transmission\, and social influence. Originating in China and later flourishing in countries like Japan (as ukiyo-e)\, Korea (minhwa)\, and parts of Southeast Asia\, this method allowed for the mass production of images\, texts\, and religious works\, making art and knowledge more widely accessible across social classes. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWant to hire us? \n\n\n\nBespoke event for you! \n\n\n\nDear Asia is a London-based event organiser specialising in creative workshops celebrating Asian cultures. You will also learn the traditions and brewing methods of each tea and the significant role tea plays in each country. These are the best picks for you to enjoy: \n\n\n\nOolong Tea \n\n\n\nOolong tea is a Chinese tea that has cultural significance in China and several other parts of South East Asia. The word ‘oolong’ comes from ‘Oo’ (or wu) meaning black\, and ‘long’ meaning dragon\, which may refer to the long\, dark and curled nature of oolong tea leaves. This poetic name provides a telling picture of the role that Oolong tea plays in Chinese culture. Oolong is especially popular in south China as is the Fujian preparation process known as the gongfu tea ceremony. \n\n\n\nMatcha Tea \n\n\n\nJapanese matcha is a vibrant green powdered tea cherished for its unique flavor and cultural significance. Its rich umami taste\, derived from shade-grown tea leaves\, sets it apart from other green teas. Matcha is prepared by whisking the powder with hot water\, resulting in a frothy and meditative beverage. The matcha tea ceremony itself is a way of celebrating hospitality\, respect and mindfulness. Packed with antioxidants and promoting a sense of calm\, matcha is a treasured delight enjoyed in Japan and around the world. \n\n\n\nYuja-cha \n\n\n\nYuja tea\, resembling marmalade in appearance\, boasts an invigorating\, soothing\, and sweet-tart taste.
